You have probably never heard of Joostina despite it being a well
known CMS in Russia. Joostina is based upon Joomla 1.0.15 with some
major improvements regarding the administratation interface, SEO and
cacheing. At the moment it is entirely in Russian although I am trying
to contact the Joostina translation team to get hold of a fully
translated version. There may be other improvements but the forums,
being entirely in Russian aren't very helpful either.
Joostina seems to be a natural upgrade path for Joomla 1.0 sites that
can't easily upgrade to Joomla 1.5. All components, modules, mambot
plugins should just work. I have two Joostina installations under my
belt and I hope to have an English language version up and running as
soon as I can. It is hard to use a Joomla configuration screen written
entirely in Russian with the cyrillic character set, especially when the
latest version of the interface is heavily changed from core Joomla 1.0.15.
