Demo site 12 - UK Nirex CARD Project

CARD - European Commission Sixth Framework Programme, Co-ordination Action for the co-ordination, research, development and demonstration, priorities and strategies for geological disposal of radioactive wastes. LightQuick have created a website for the UK Nirex CARD Project We created the UK Nirex CARD Project's main website using traditional HTML technology because this is what was required in order that the site could be easily hosted on UK Nirex's own computers. It is such a simple but unique site that has limited aims but accomplishes them exactly as per the customer's requirements. It is extremely fast to load and provides the essential information within with the minimum of fuss. This site shows that if you require a completely unique site that is not based upon any existing template then we can do it for you using traditional HTML techniques. The UK Nirex CARD Project required a website in order to support a feasibility assessment of a Technology Platform that would provide a European framework for networking and co-operation in the context of R&D for radioactive waste disposal in the EU. No search engine friendly tools are in place as this site is essentially an internal site published by linking the various associated EU national sites together.

Newsflash!

We were hacked on the 1st June by Russian b*sterds with a site suffix of .ru. The site was corrupted and scripts inserted. We removed the scripts immediately and then restored the site just to be sure everything was fixed. If you experienced any down-time during this period then we do apologise. We have done everything we can to make sure the site is not hacked again in the future. Security is a lot tighter. The hackers used a trojan on a laptop and extracted passwords from filezilla's site manager which stores passwords in plain text. Moral of this story: Don't use filezilla, keep the anti virus checker up to date and don't visit dodgy websites...

Subsequent to the site hack there were a few smaller problems encountered. Images on the demo pages were not showing and some downloads were missing. The missing downloads was because we resorted to restoring the site back to an earlier state. The missing images was caused by Artio JoomSEF not fully working with Internet Explorer. Both problems were fixed a week after the hack. Apologies if this caused you any inconvenience.
